Packaging Operator

Job Title – Packaging Operator

Main Purpose of Job: Applying appropriate labels and dates to jars and buckets, packing jars in to boxes and palletising of jars and buckets.

Relationships:

A.    Responsible to: Quality & Production Manager, Production Supervisor and Senior Management.

B.     Liaison with: Production Supervisor, Operatives, Managers, Clients/Customers, Auditors.

Main Tasks of Job:

•         Ensuring that the packaging equipment and area is cleaned to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard prior to use, in accordance with the relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).

•         Ensuring that the packaging of batches is carried out in accordance to the relevant SOP’s.

•         Stacks finished packaged items or packs items on pallets.

•         Attaches identification labels to finished packaged items.

•         Ensuring that the batch reconciliation’s are completed and to report any discrepancies to the production supervisor.

•         Counts and records finished and rejected packaged items.

•         Inspects and removes defective product and packaging material.

•         Ensuring that all in-process checks (label) are carried out to relevant SOP’s.

•         Remove finished packaged items from line and separates rejected items.

·         Ensuring that batch packaging records and relevant documentation are filled in correctly according to relevant SOP’s

·         Completes all required Food Safety and GMP training and demonstrates compliance on a continual basis.

•         Ensuring that high standards of GMP and good house-keeping are maintained within the area.

•         Ensuring that weekly targets are achieved.

•         Ensure standards are maintained relative to audit requirements and hygiene rules.

•         Clean lines, process work areas or other parts of the facility in order to maintain sanitation standards.

•         Wears and utilizes appropriate safety equipment and PPE.

•         Communicate quality and food safety issues to Production Manager and ensure speedy resolution of these.

•         Taking on any other duties as delegated by the Production Manager or Senior Management.
