Job Supervisor at Laois Leisure  

The Centre Laois Leisure- Portarlington Laois Leisure -Portlaoise are sporting / recreational / educational facilities, which offers sporting and training opportunities to members and the Public at large.  The Centre is open for 7 days a week and up to 16 hours per day.   This employment contract is based on the service calendar of the Centre. 

 Qualifications Pool - National Pool Lifeguard qualification 

Purpose The Supervisor position is a key position in the Company.  The Person in Charge +will contribute to the overall operation and development of Laois Leisure CLG and will supervise staff and ensure compliance with company policies. 

 

Main Duties    

·         To ensure the provision of a clean, high quality facility with exciting and innovative Leisure Centre programmes. 

·         To act as a member of the Leisure Centre Management Team on a shift rota system. 

·         To ensure all Health & Safety procedures and responsibilities are always carried out . 

·         To deputise for a Duty Manager as requested. 

·         To ensure that the objectives of the centre are achieved, and the appropriate financial systems and procedures are implemented. 

·         To be responsible for the provision of teaching and coaching courses for all areas of operation etc. 

·         To identify and assess the feasibility of new activities which the Centre could provide. 

·         To build strong relationships with customers and employees. 

·         To ensure all staff are kept informed of the Centre’s activities and special events. 

·         To achieve maximum levels of participation in all courses and activities. 

·         To monitor cost effectiveness, highlight and rectify areas of low performance. 

·         To produce performance records, statistics, targets and reports for programming and associated activities. 

·         To maintain and, be committed to good employee and customer relations. 

·         To assist in the marketing and publicity of all activities and events and develop distribution networks for promotional materials and merchandising of products. 

·         To ensure sufficient staff are available for the safe, high-quality functioning of the Centre. 

·         To assist in the management of any current or future award schemes (e.g. National; Quality standards). 

·         To teach and coach as required and generally assist with the running of events. 

·         To communicate effectively through both verbal and written means with management, staff and customers. 

·         To act as a main key holder for the Centre and be responsible for opening and closing of the building and emergency callouts. 

·         To undertake any regulatory requirements. 

·         To be responsible and accountable for cash handling and bank lodgements as required. 

·         To comply with and monitor the compliance of others to the Centre’s Code of Ethics. 

·         To supervise all staff and areas of operation while on duty. 

·         To maintain water purity daily in the swimming pools to health & safety standards, including water testing, filter backwashing, chemical top-ups and the keeping of associated records. 

·         To work additional hours where required to meet the demands of the role.   

·         To be responsible for the safety; instruction, conduct, supervision and enjoyment of those in your care. 

·         To be responsible for the maintenance, storing and control of all centre equipment, facilities and property. 

·         To ensure accidents/incidents are fully recorded on the appropriate forms. 

·         To maintain and improve your own competence and capability by attendance at compulsory staff training, various training courses and by maintaining a keen and active interest in your areas of work.  

·         To perform leisure attendant duties when required.  

·         To undertake any other duties as may be required by the Centre Manager to ensure that the objectives of the Centre are achieved.
