Experienced Bookeeper

We are seeking an experienced and details-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. Ideally, we are looking for someone with practice experience and the ability to work on a variety of clients simultaneously. Given the current pandemic, we need a self-starter who can hit the ground running. The ability to assist less experienced members of staff will be a definite advantage, as will prior experience of Quickbooks or Surf Accounts.

We are a friendly office, and place a high emphasis on collegiality and teamwork. The position will also involve daily contact with clients of all sizes and the successful candidate will be comfortable with this aspect of the position.

The principal duties will include:

  • Preparing VAT returns and associated bookkeeping records from information provided by clients;

  • Processing payroll in the new digital system;

  • PAYE reconciliations;

  • Preparing sole trader returns to trial balance stage;

  • Assisting audit staff on audit and audit-exempt assignments;

  • Dealing with ad-hoc client enquiries;

  • Covering telephone and administrative duties as required.

The position is based in our Trim office, but may include work for clients of our Mullingar office. We are offering a competitive package (including study and exam support if desired) and the opportunity for family-friendly working arrangements after an initial period of evaluation. The qualities we are seeking include:

  • Ideally, at least three years practice experience

  • Accounts Technician qualification is desirable but not essential

  • Strong computerised accounts experience

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines

  • The highest integrity and confidentiality

  • The confidence to become part of a genuine team.
